Issues Faced by the Elderly at Stepanakert's Nursing Home
Focusing on the issue of protecting the rights of the elderly, Artsakh's Human Rights Defender Artak Beglaryan made an unannounced visit to the nursing home in Stepanakert on December 17.
According to the Artsakh Human Rights Defender's office, during the visit, the Defender examined the status of the rights of the residents, the conditions of care, and had private conversations with them.
Specifically, living and building conditions, provided meals, quality of social services, cleanliness of residents' rooms and bedding, bath conditions, and provided medications were studied.
The leadership of the facility and the residents also discussed the mechanisms for providing necessary medical services to the residents if needed.
As a result of the visit, several issues present in the nursing home were highlighted, along with specific concerns regarding the protection of certain residents' rights, for which the Defender will take concrete actions and make proposals to address.
The Defender stated that within the scope of his powers, he will do everything possible for the effective realization and protection of the rights of the elderly.
