Two Earthquakes Recorded in Armenia and Artsakh with Magnitude of 2-3 and Higher

The Seismic Protection Territorial Service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations reported that from November 13-19, two earthquakes with a magnitude of 2-3 and higher were recorded in the territories of Armenia and Artsakh.

On November 13, an earthquake with a magnitude of 2-3 occurred 8 km southeast of the village of Ashotzk in Armenia. Another earthquake with the same magnitude was registered on November 17, 23 km southeast of the city of Kajaran in Armenia.

In the region, a total of 14 earthquakes with a magnitude of 3 and higher have been recorded. On November 13, a 3-magnitude quake occurred in the border zone between Georgia and Armenia, 13 km southeast of the town of Nimozminda. In Georgia, another 3-magnitude earthquake was recorded 5 km northeast of the city of Telavi. On November 14, Iran experienced a 4-magnitude quake 15 km east of the city of Khoy. On November 17, a 3-magnitude earthquake occurred 40 km northeast of the city of Tabriz in Iran, while on November 18, a stronger quake of 4-5 magnitude was recorded 21 km northwest of the city of Salmast in Iran. On November 19, multiple quakes of 4 and 3 magnitudes were recorded in the vicinity of Salmast and Khoy in Iran, as well as in Turkey, where a 6-7 magnitude earthquake was reported 43 km southeast of the city of Saray.

Beyond the region, two earthquakes measuring 6.0 or higher were recorded in the Pacific Ocean basin. On November 14, a seismic event with a magnitude of 7.1 occurred in the Molucca Sea, 139 km east of the city of Bitung in North Sulawesi, Indonesia. This event was followed by 24 aftershocks, one of which exceeded a magnitude of 6.0. As a result of the earthquake, two individuals in the city of Ternate sustained various degrees of injuries, and several buildings, including two churches, were damaged.
