Weightlifter Monte Mkhitaryan Wins Small Gold Medal

At the ongoing European Championship for weightlifting for under-20 and under-23 years old in the capital of Romania, Bucharest, Armenia has secured its first medal. This was reported by the official website of the Armenian National Olympic Committee.

In the under-20 competition, Monte Mkhitaryan (55 kg) won a small gold medal in the snatch event with a result of 111 kg, while he finished 5th in the total lift. In the clean and jerk event, the Armenian weightlifter successfully completed only one attempt and with a result of 125 kg, he placed 6th. Mkhitaryan recorded a total of 236 kg.

On October 21, another Armenian representative, Sevak Nikoghosyan, will compete in the under-20 category in the 67 kg weight class.
