Unpleasant Surprises Awaiting in the European Parliament Regarding Artsakh Issues

The newspaper "Hraparak" reports that while we are occupied with domestic political squabbles, events are unfolding around us that are not advantageous for us. The European Parliament's Foreign Affairs Committee has appointed a new rapporteur regarding Armenia - former Romanian President Traian Băsescu, who was once one of Ilham Aliyev's closest allies and a lobbyist for the Nabucco gas pipeline.

After the project's collapse, the affection for Aliyev may have waned, but the connections remain. The main rapporteurs in the European Parliament present political assessments at least once a year. Given the rapporteur's known negative stance on the Karabakh issue, unpleasant surprises await us in the European Parliament's reports over the next five years.

The reason is the inaction of the Armenian authorities. It turns out that since May, the National Assembly of Armenia has not established any official relations with the newly formed European Parliament - no work has been done, and there have been no visits. Neither the Ministry of Foreign Affairs nor the National Assembly attempted to prevent Băsescu's appointment.
