Centralized Registration of Domestic Violence Cases to Be Implemented in Armenia

The government of Armenia has approved the draft decision on "Establishing the Procedure for Centralized Registration of Domestic Violence Cases" presented by the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs.

This will create a comprehensive database regarding domestic violence cases in Armenia for the first time, which will not only include the exact number of cases but also provide a clear picture of the types of violence and their geographical distribution.

Currently, there is no centralized registration of domestic violence cases in the republic. Information about the prevalence, extent, and manifestations of the phenomenon is obtained from cases recorded by law enforcement agencies and various organizations conducting research, which is insufficient for assessing the situation, documenting patterns, and initiating preventive measures.

This decision regulates the relationships related to the exchange of information among the authorized public administration bodies of the Government of the Republic of Armenia concerning the centralized registration of domestic violence cases, prevention of violence, and protection of individuals subjected to violence.
