I Would Like Vanetsyan to Still Be an Active NSS Official – Sanasaryan

During a press conference held today, October 2, Davit Sanasaryan stated that his decision to resign is not made by the Prime Minister.

“I have written specifically to the Prime Minister more than four times, stating that if there is a lack of confidence, I will resign without a second thought and step down; I cannot work under conditions of distrust. The Prime Minister has indicated that there is no such issue, but there is an indication against me, a criminal case has been opened, and we will understand after the completion of the case. If I ever understand, it becomes apparent that they do not want to work together, I will resign from my position. This position is subordinate to the Prime Minister, and at any moment he can dismiss me,” Sanasaryan said.

Referring to Arthur Vanetsyan, Sanasaryan mentioned that he would have preferred the official to still be in office. “I would have liked him to still be in that position, to talk that way, but I would have preferred that the NSS director was not associated with such a case,” he stated.

To a journalist's question about whether the circumstances of Arthur Vanetsyan's dismissal are related to his case, Sanasaryan replied, “I have spoken with the Prime Minister, but I cannot say, though there is another violation that has occurred. He holds a press conference and tells reporters that the case will go to court, and you will all know. But who said that you would decide, meaning it’s not the Prosecutor General who has decided, but that person has decided. This is already a violation.”
