Concerns Raised Over Birth Rates in Armenia
The newspaper "Zhamanak" reports that the government has presented a draft decision on the program aimed at improving birth rates due to health factors. The draft contains several alarming statistical data.
Specifically, according to UN forecasts, 25,000 children will be born in Armenia in 2024, while currently, 37,000 are born. The reproduction rate in Armenia is 1.57, whereas the replacement level fertility rate needed is 2.1. There are 71,528 couples suffering from infertility in the country, and the infertility rate among marriages stands at 15%, which is considered a crisis situation. The list of concerning indicators is significantly larger.
