Shooting and Language Conflict at Kyrgyzstan-Tajikistan Border
There has been a shooting incident at the border between Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan. According to TACC, one Kyrgyz border guard has been killed and six servicemen have been injured as a result of the exchange of fire.
The Kyrgyz side reports that the shooting was triggered by construction work conducted by Tajik citizens in uncoordinated areas of the border. In response, Kyrgyz citizens engaged in similar activities in the same area, which was met with aggressive demands from Tajik forces to cease their actions.
A verbal confrontation ensued, which escalated into gunfire. The Tajik side has reported that several citizens sustained gunshot injuries during the incident.
