I Hoped It Wouldn't Come to That: Simonian on Vanetsyan's Resignation
The parliamentary faction of 'My Step' has summoned a meeting at the headquarters of the ruling party, the Republican Party of Armenia. Several lawmakers have already arrived, including the Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly, Alen Simonian. Reporters asked him how he would comment on Arthur Vanetsyan's resignation as the head of the National Security Service.
'I have no information regarding anyone's resignation. I learned about this resignation a few days ago when the press reported it, and I had hoped it wouldn't come to this. I am not Vanetsyan's spokesperson; I am his friend, but keep in mind that I am a member of a political team, and my assessment may be political,' Simonian stated.
The Deputy Speaker also mentioned that in recent days he has only had phone conversations with Vanetsyan, in a 'We will see, we will talk' format.
