The Mountain is Not Impotent, the Deciders are Impotent: Lyova Khachatryan
Former member of the National Assembly and a former MP from the Prosperous Armenia faction, Lyova Khachatryan, expressed his position on the Amulsar issue as follows: the mountain is not impotent, the deciders are impotent.
“If there is no other way, let’s gather money as a nation, give it to the government to compile an expert Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA). I am not a specialist, but I am deeply afraid. Let’s collectively gather ten, a hundred drams, and let’s conduct a real expertise, then an EIA can be done. We know how they were done before. Generally, opinions are quite contradictory, and some are so profound that sometimes it seems that the genocide had a milder impact on Armenia than what Amulsar might leave behind, because, ultimately, we have risen again and we are living today,” said Lyova Khachatryan.
He did not provide other evaluations, stating: “I don’t want to say negative things; they don’t deserve the good either. I will wait, perhaps they will grow, they will come, they will gain experience. We have plenty of time.”
