Construction of Patara Reservoir Will Be the Main Guarantee for Providing Drinking Water to Stepanakert - Arayik Harutyunyan
The former Prime Minister of the Republic of Artsakh and leader of the "Free Homeland" party, Arayik Harutyunyan, made a statement on his Facebook page. He noted, in particular, that:
“According to the leader of the ruling political force, the construction of internal networks in communities is only a part of the project, and, according to expert observations, work must continue by involving new water resources, as there is a significant risk that this undesirable situation could recur every year due to hot weather conditions.
In the case of the capital, the main guarantee for solving the problem can be the construction of the Patara reservoir, all project documentation for which is ready. When operational, it will ensure that Stepanakert is fully supplied with high-quality drinking water around the clock. Dozens of rural communities in the Askeran region and thousands of hectares of arid land will also have permanent drinking and irrigation water.
Considering the urgency of the issue, the "Free Homeland" party has decided to work diligently through the "Homeland" parliamentary faction during the autumn session to ensure that the reservoir construction project is included in the expenditure part of the 2020 state budget,” Harutyunyan emphasized, highlighting that this will be a fundamental issue for the faction.
