8 Detained Following Ararat-Armenia's Victory
On the evening of August 22, following the football match between Ararat-Armenia and Dudelange at the Vazgen Sargsyan Republican Stadium, eight individuals were detained by the police due to clashes among fans. This information was provided to NEWS.am by the police.
The citizens were detained on suspicion of hooliganism by officers from the police's Patrol Service and the Criminal Investigation Department. According to the police, around 21:30, these individuals grossly violated public order near the Republican Stadium, openly displaying disrespect towards society by shouting insults and physically assaulting each other.
The detained individuals refused to provide explanations to the police and were subsequently released. Investigative materials are being prepared in connection with the incident.
Earlier, NEWS.am Sport reported that following the victory of Ararat-Armenia in the first match of the fourth round of the UEFA Europa League qualification, a clash occurred among Armenian fans while leaving the stadium, outside the fence. Fans were seen fighting, tearing each other's shirts, and hurling insults.
In an interview with NEWS.am Sport, members of the Red Eagles Fan movement denied their involvement in the incident, stating that nothing had happened.
