Supporters of Kyrgyzstan's Former President Release Hostage Special Forces
Supporters of former Kyrgyz President Almazbek Atambayev have released the special forces personnel they had taken hostage, according to a representative from Atambayev's headquarters.
“No one came for them, which is why we took them to their colleagues,” the agency's interlocutor stated.
Earlier, Atambayev's supporters provided media with a video in which nearly all the special forces personnel were seen bandaged. One of them, reportedly the commander, stated that they had sworn an oath to the state and the people.
“We serve the people of Kyrgyzstan. In this situation, if we have done anything wrong, we ask for forgiveness. We apologize to the people,” the man says in the video.
