Instead of the Current 111 Bus Routes, There Will Be 42, and the Number of Transport Vehicles Will Also Significantly Decrease, City Hall
During the latest meeting of the professional working group on public transport reforms in Yerevan, the final draft of the new network was presented. This was reported by the Yerevan City Hall.
According to the final report of the delegation from the British consulting company WYG, a modern integrated public transport network will ensure a flexible fare and ticketing system.
“The new transport network proposes 42 routes instead of the currently operating 111 bus routes, and the number of transport vehicles will also significantly decrease. A total of 845 buses and 101 trolleybuses will be launched. Included among the buses are also reserve vehicles, which account for 15 percent of the total. The length of the network will also be reduced by more than three times.
This does not mean that the coverage will decrease; it simply means there will be fewer overlapping routes, allowing for substantial savings during the operation and use of the network, which will significantly lighten the fare burden. Public transport will be adapted to the needs of individuals with mobility challenges,” the City Hall informs.
