Institute of 'Whistleblowers': New Mechanism to Fine Reckless Drivers
The newspaper 'Hraparak' reports that Sisak Gabrielyan, a member of the 'My Step' bloc, together with a group of lawmakers, is set to introduce a legislative proposal assuring public oversight of road traffic violations. This initiative will allow citizens to send electronic notifications regarding legal violations to the police divisions through a mobile application, leading to administrative proceedings against reckless drivers who will face fines.
The foundation for this legislative initiative stems from the concerning statistics of road traffic accidents and the fatalities resulting from them. The lawmaker humorously remarked that perhaps his initiative could be perceived as a step towards the development of an 'institute of whistleblowers', but the ultimate goal is to enhance public oversight.
