Initial Responses of Court Council Member Candidate Force 'My Step' to Retract
'Haykakan Jamanak' newspaper reports, 'Despite the claims from 'My Step' that their MPs were on business trips and meetings, and that their nominated candidate for the Court of Cassation was simply not elected due to a lack of votes, our sources from 'My Step' provide different details regarding this matter. 'In reality, after long negotiations, candidate Anna Margaryan agreed, and they even went to her home to persuade her to submit her candidacy. She is a highly respected academic at the university, quite distant from politics, and is engaged in serious projects abroad. Our folks thought she was very suitable; a highly intelligent candidate compared to Grigor Bekmezian, who is a relative of Levon Ter-Petrosyan, while Vigen Kocharyan has a somewhat controversial reputation.'
'As a scientist, Anna Margaryan was highly acceptable, but her very first answers to the questions posed caught the team off guard – direct, straightforward, without any maneuvering. Her comments about closing courts and the comparison to seismically vulnerable, collapsing buildings became a very serious reason for a soft retreat. It was decided to ensure some votes, but the candidate should not pass.'
'Is it true that there were behind-the-scenes negotiations with 'Bright Armenia' that day for opposing votes? 'I would struggle to say, however, their vote was also unexpected. If it was honest and sincere, both professionally and humanely, it was indeed a significant mistake, especially given that Anna's father has just passed away, and she is very highly respected among students.'
