Court Proceedings Against Kocharian Are Politicized, Says 'Sistema' Owner
The main shareholder and owner of the 'Sistema' financial corporation, Vladimir Yevtushenkov, has stated that the former president of Armenia, Robert Kocharian, who is currently in custody, has retained his position on the board of directors due to the politicized nature of the court proceedings against him.
According to RIA Novosti, Yevtushenkov made these remarks during the annual shareholder meeting of 'Sistema'. He noted, "For many years, former president Robert Kocharian has been an unchanged and independent member of our board of directors. As you know, he is now again in custody. In our view, both the charges and the judicial process are politicized, which is why we decided to include him in the new composition of the board of directors, especially since he had given his consent back when he was free."
The source adds that on June 29, the shareholders re-elected the members of the board of directors of 'Sistema' with the same composition.
