No Separate Law for Vetting, Will be Implemented with Tools. Makunts

Instead of having a separate law for vetting, it has been preferred to implement it with other tools, said Lilit Makunts, the leader of the "My Step" faction, to reporters in parliament.

"We intended to have a separate law on vetting, but at this point, we have preferred to carry out the vetting process with other tools, which will naturally involve the adoption of certain legislative initiatives," said Makunts.

When asked if there would be personnel issues due to the need to replace judges if some of them lose their powers after vetting, Makunts stated, "It is still too early to talk about that."

Regarding the timelines for clarifying the vetting tools, the leader of the "My Step" faction noted, "We are doing everything to ensure that everything is done in the shortest time possible. The change of tools is also conditioned by the fact that the path of having a separate law on vetting was quite long, as it would require the establishment of a separate body, a referendum, and so on. The change in tools was also due to timing," said Makunts.
