Edmon Marukyan: 'We should not miss this opportunity, we need to bring Russian flights to Gyumri Airport'
Edmon Marukyan, the head of the ‘Enlightened Armenia’ parliamentary group, has called on the General Department of Civil Aviation and the government to take measures to increase Russian flights to Gyumri. He recalled that by the decision of the President of Russia, flights from Russia to Georgia have been banned.
“I did a little research, approximately 30 flights have been from Russia to Georgia weekly. In this regard, it is very important that we are able to bring those flights to Gyumri Airport. It is crucial to ensure that flights coming from and going to Russia increase at Gyumri Airport. As a result, 400 more people can pass through Gyumri. This is fundamentally important and contributes to the development of Gyumri,” said the MP.
He also took this opportunity to call on the head of our Civil Aviation, a lovely girl, and our brilliantly working Government to quickly take measures during these days to resolve this issue because we simply should not miss this opportunity,” he added.
Marukyan emphasized that the Government should ensure that the incoming and outgoing flights to Gyumri increase by July 8, stating that if they do not increase, we can affirm that the Government has serious problems in this regard. “If they do not increase, I will say what needs to be done later. But for now, I want to stay positive and hope that you will take measures. Thank you and I hope this suggestion and demand will not go unanswered,” he concluded.
