Armenia Wins First Medal at European Games
The second European Games have kicked off in the capital city of Belarus, Minsk. Today, the sambo athletes took to the mats. In the 82 kg weight category, Armenia was represented by Davit Grigoryan.
Our athlete began his fight in the quarterfinals, where he defeated Italian Michele Alsi by a score of 3-1. In the semifinals, Grigoryan faced Georgian Besarion Betluvan and emerged victorious with a score of 1-0, thus earning the opportunity to compete for the gold medal.
In the finals, Grigoryan competed against Russia's Andrei Perepeluyk. Unfortunately, our athlete lost in the final match, with Perepeluyk winning decisively by a score of 7-0.
Davit Grigoryan won the silver medal in the 82 kg weight category. It is worth noting that this is the first medal for our delegation at the European Games.
