VIDEO: The Police Do Not Detain Anyone for No Reason, Says Osipyan
The police do not detain anyone for no reason; they act exclusively according to the law. This was stated by Police Chief Valery Osipyan in response to a question regarding the repeated detentions of members of the 'Adequate' NGO, and whether this is an attempt to draw attention to them.
"If we are detaining someone who has committed a crime, are we trying to get the alleged criminal known? Does this mean that no one should be detained? No. We will detain those who try to violate order in the Republic of Armenia, not to mention committing a crime," said Osipyan.
To the question of how many people in black uniforms have been detained, Osipyan replied, "Detention is not related to what color of clothing they are wearing. The function of the police is not only to observe and bring order. The police have very important functions: preventive work, prophylaxis, which we are carrying out continuously during this period and always."
