‘Thief by Law’ Attempted to Smuggle Pills into Prison
Using operational data received from the National Security Service of Armenia, a joint operation by the Special Investigation Service and the NSS led to the prevention of a smuggling attempt on June 7 at around 20:00. During the reception of a detainee at the Penitentiary Institution ‘Yerevan-Center’ in the Shirak region, a person recognized as a ‘thief by law’ in the criminal community was found in possession of 29 tablets labeled ‘5771 M’, 6 broken tablets, and 0.5 grams of a brownish ointment with a distinctive odor.
Notably, the alleged narcotic pills and substance were discovered during a personal search of the aforementioned individual. Materials are being prepared regarding the incident, and a forensic chemical examination has been appointed.
