‘Hayots Joxovurd’: Preparation to Assassinate Kocharian – Criminal Case with the NSS

‘Hayots Joxovurd’ newspaper reports that a criminal case has been initiated by the National Security Service (NSS) concerning a resident of a village in the Ararat region, Stepanyan S., who allegedly prepared to assassinate an Armenian state official back in 2001. He is accused of acquiring explosives and devices in collaboration with members of a group formed for this purpose.

Details have emerged about the case, as reported by ‘Hayots Joxovurd’. Specifically, the criminal case was initiated based on a confession made voluntarily by Stepanyan S. years later. The most intriguing aspect is the identity of the state official he intended to kill but did not carry out the crime.

According to information received by us, this individual has informed law enforcement that the target was the second President of Armenia, Robert Kocharian, and even provided the name of the mastermind behind the plan.
