Explosion of Gas Cylinder Causes Partial Collapse in Akunk Village Home
Today, the Ministry of Emergency Situations received a call reporting an incident in one of the houses in Akunk village, Kotayk Province, where a 20 kg liquefied gas cylinder had leaked, resulting in an explosion. The explosion caused a partial collapse of the house, and there remains a risk of further structural failure.
Emergency services promptly dispatched a rescue team from the special purpose rescue work center and an operational group from the regional rescue department to the scene. Investigations revealed that a leak occurred from the liquefied gas cylinder in one of the houses on 10th Street, leading to an explosion that compromised the structural elements of the approximately 100 square meter house. The interior walls collapsed and were damaged.
Before the rescue teams could arrive, a resident of the house, M.G. (born in 2006), was hospitalized at Abovyan Medical Center, where doctors assessed the individual's health condition to be satisfactory.
Rescue workers cordoned off the area and removed valuable items and documents from the house.
