Abovyan City Mayor Vahagn Gevorgyan on NSS Revelations

The current mayor of Abovyan, Vahagn Gevorgyan, does not wish to comment on the NSS revelations concerning instances of accepting bribes and preparing and using false documents in the Abovyan City Hall. In an interview with Tert.am, he stated that the issue is within the legal domain.

“In any case, I stand before the people of Abovyan with a clear conscience, and I can respond both in legal and moral terms,” he noted.

While discussing his tenure, Gevorgyan declared that significant work has been accomplished in Abovyan over the past four years. “We have tried to work in a way that we are not just ahead of cities with similar populations, but in many cases, we are ahead of Yerevan as well. I have worked for four years, and the community has achieved a 100 percent performance rate. Throughout these four years, there has been no debt in our budget. We have had and implemented a number of programs during these years,” Vahagn Gevorgyan noted.

He also informed that over 20 large-scale projects are currently being undertaken in the city of Abovyan. Gevorgyan emphasized that he has unfinished business and is proposing to continue his work.
