Protest Action: Empty Wallets Thrown at the Government Entrance
The Youth Organization of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF) held another protest action today, May 10, in front of the government building, demanding the withdrawal of the new Tax Code package from the National Assembly.
“We demand that the government cancel the principle of flat income tax. 95% of the countries around the world implement taxation through a progressive tax system; we do not understand what the purpose is behind wanting to shift to a flat tax in Armenia,” stated one of the initiative's members, Argishti Gevorgyan.
As a symbol of protest, the members of the initiative threw empty wallets representing the income of low and middle-income earners at the entrance of the government building.
