What Happened: Police Clarifies Incident Involving Woman and Traffic Officer

On May 3, an incident occurred near Republic Square involving a woman and a traffic police officer, the footage of which surfaced online. The Armenian police have reported that the video quickly spread and was widely discussed on social media.

“To avoid various interpretations, the police find it necessary to clarify the situation,” the statement reads.

The woman approached the traffic police vehicle and obstructed traffic. Inside the vehicle was one officer from the traffic police, the driver. It is important to note that the officer noticed a broken piece of glass in the woman’s hand and, to prevent undesirable consequences, called for support through radio communication.

At the same time, he urged the gathered citizens to maintain a safe distance using a loudspeaker. Officers from the police patrol service arrived at the scene and took the woman to the Central Police Station. Materials have been prepared regarding the incident, and the circumstances are under investigation,” the police clarification states.
