VIDEO: "Shame", "Boycott". Anti-Government Protests in Kazakhstan

Protests are taking place in two major cities of Kazakhstan, Nur-Sultan and Almaty, with participants demanding the release of political prisoners and calling for a boycott of the upcoming snap presidential elections.

In Almaty, demonstrators shouted slogans such as "shame", "boycott", "we have the right to choose", and "freedom for political prisoners".

A similar scene was observed in the capital city Nur-Sultan, where protesters declared that "the people are already tired of this government".

Reports indicate that both cities were heavily monitored by a large number of police officers. In Nur-Sultan, incidents were recorded where protesters were forcibly placed into police buses.

It is known that snap elections in Kazakhstan are scheduled for June 9, and it appears that interim president Kassym-Jomart Tokayev is likely to win.

The only registered opposition political party in the country has already announced its intention to boycott the elections.
