Driver's License Acquisition Process to be Tightened, Says Deputy Chief of Police

The process for taking traffic exams will be conducted in both a driving range and real traffic conditions. This was announced today, April 30, during a press conference by Arthur Tonoyan, Deputy Chief of the Road Police of Armenia, while addressing the planned changes to the driver's license acquisition process.

He reminded that Armenia has committed to join the road maps of the European Union and the Eurasian Economic Union by June 1, resulting in several acts being amended, particularly concerning the admission procedures for qualification exams and the external appearance and format of driver's licenses.

“The educational process is the first aspect related to qualification exams. As you know, previously, the process was liberalized. There is also a change concerning the C category. Under the current technological possibilities, citizens were not required to undergo educational processes for categories A, B, and C. However, under the new requirements, professional drivers for category C will need to undergo educational processes,” Tonoyan stated, highlighting that the process for acquiring a driver's license will be tightened.

“For example, previously, the traffic exam was conducted either on a driving range or in real traffic conditions. Now the exam will be conducted in both a driving range and real traffic conditions,” Arthur Tonoyan clarified.
