VIDEO: Salaries of Teachers Trained Under New System to Increase by 50% - Araik Harutyunyan
Armenia's Minister of Education and Science Araik Harutyunyan addressed journalists during a press briefing in the National Assembly, highlighting his key points.
The full statement is presented below:
“Today’s press briefing was quite intense. Let me outline the main thoughts:
- ✅ The increase in teachers' salaries is one of our primary issues. The programs already include a provision for raising salaries starting in September. Additionally, in September, there will be a teacher retraining system, as a result of which the salaries of teachers who have undergone retraining will increase by 50%.
- ✅ I have treated all rectors equally and fairly since my appointment, including Aram Simonyan. There are individuals associated with Aram Simonyan in the highest positions of our ministry, and there can be no question of political pressure. Regarding the protests aimed at defending Aram Simonyan, anyone can engage in such actions within the scope of law and rights, and this government respects that right, unlike previous instances when there was a practice of 'deploying forces.'
- ✅ I call on cultural figures to maintain calm; we will discuss all issues together, and I don’t foresee any problems.”
