Special Operation in Yerevan: Law Enforcement Neutralizes Major Extortionist
Earlier today, operatives from the Organized Crime Control Department (6th) of the Police, the Criminal Investigation Department of the Yerevan Police, and the Criminal Investigation Division of the Erebuni Police Department conducted an operation based on received intelligence and neutralized a man in front of "Agbabank" on Tigran Mets Avenue.
According to Shamshyan.com, the suspect was neutralized by the 3rd special company (red berets) of the Yerevan Police under the leadership of the head of the 6th Principal Department Arsen Ayvazyan, Yerevan Police Chief Garik Ghukasyan, and Erebuni Police Chief Vardan Vardanyan.
According to photojournalist sources, the neutralized individual is 31-year-old Aram Khachatryan, a resident of Yerevan, who was caught red-handed at the scene for extorting 600,000 drams from a citizen. As reported by G. Shamshyan, A. Khachatryan had blackmailed this citizen, threatening to publish her intimate photos online, and had for a significant period extorted various amounts of money under this threat. Several witnesses at the scene mentioned this but refused to speak on camera.
Shortly after, the Red Berets transported A. Khachatryan in handcuffs to the Erebuni Police Department. A. Khachatryan has been arrested.
