Armen Sarkissian's Activity is Somewhat Suspicious: 'Hayeli'
The newspaper 'Hayeli' reports that President Armen Sarkissian's recent activity, particularly on the international stage, is somewhat suspicious. He visited the United Arab Emirates in January for a working trip, followed by a visit to France, and is now preparing to travel to Germany, where he will participate in the opening ceremonial event of the Munich Security Conference.
According to the presidential office's statement, 'This representative conference will discuss issues related to international security that reflect the current challenges in the field.' Notably, in previous years, Armenia also participated at the presidential level in the Munich Security Conference, with Serzh Sargsyan dutifully attending this event.
However, during that time, Sargsyan's presence was entirely understandable. By constitutional mandate, he was the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces and the guarantor of the country's security. In contrast, under the new constitution, the president has no powers in defense and security matters; his position is symbolic, and the corresponding powers are reserved for the Prime Minister.
Thus, Armen Sarkissian's active foreign visits prompt conclusions, giving the impression that he is seizing every opportunity to enter the realm of the Prime Minister's authorities.
