VIDEO: Pashinyan on Street Trade - We All Go to Mashtots Boulevard and Become an Eastern Bazaar
The Parliament continues discussions on the government's program today. MPs continue to pose questions.
In response to Vahé Enfiadjián's question about product imports and customs clearance, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated:
“If I’m periodically doing other business, I’m also bringing products regularly, that won’t happen, excuse me. How many times can we say, what was this revolution for? Back then there was oligarchy, now there is anti-oligarchy. Back then, the privileged ones were elsewhere, and now other people want to be privileged. They stop trucks wanting to bring products into the country at 50 kg, and no, that won’t happen; there won’t be any such uncompromising compromises. If they try to tell the government, ‘Oh, we will protest against you,’ that won’t happen. Show us, when we see it’s significant, we will understand, we’ll say goodbye and each will return to their own work. Whoever is more cunning, forces the government to make decisions, this won’t happen. You will bring, you will clear customs, and you will pay tax. That’s it, there is no and will not be another option. It doesn’t matter if it’s an oligarch or a small trader, never once.”
The Prime Minister remarked that he has seen street traders giving interviews, questioning whether this was the revolution they fought for.
“Of course, we made a revolution to turn the center of Yerevan into the Istanbul Bazaar. We all go to Mashtots Boulevard and become an Eastern bazaar,” he said.
