Oligarchy Infiltrates Parliament: 'Sasna Tsrer'
The snap elections of December 9, 2018, in the National Assembly of Armenia were a significant advance towards establishing democracy and strengthening national statehood after the removal of the previous criminal regime.
This is stated in a declaration by the 'Sasna Tsrer' party.
'The voting, despite the violations recorded during the process, was generally free and transparent, which allowed the people to freely express their will.
However, it should be noted that several factors had a tangible impact on the election results due to the failure to amend the Electoral Code and the Law on Political Parties. As a result, there was an unequal competition among the participating forces, and the oligarchy, taking advantage of the opportunity, partially infiltrated the parliament again.
Therefore, we are forced to state that the elections cannot be unconditionally regarded as fair.
Regardless of this circumstance, valuing the fact of the people's free expression of will, the Secretariat of the 'Sasna Tsrer' pan-Armenian party recognizes the election results, congratulates the 'My Step' alliance on its victory, and wishes the future government fruitful work,' the statement from the party reads.
