VIDEO: Pashinyan Threatened Judges in Kocharyan Case, Says Alumyan
Today, a press conference was held by Haik Alumyan, a member of the legal team representing second president Robert Kocharyan, where he announced that they have decided not to respond to the scandalous recording released yesterday.
“For now, we do not want to address it simply because the content of that recording is such that it does not need further comment. This is a case where you can simply write underneath it ‘no comment’,” Alumyan said, adding that this recording will inevitably become part of the case.
Haik Alumyan also referred to the speech made by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan in Ashtarak on the day of Robert Kocharyan's trial, which he believes was a threat to the judicial system. “We believe this is not a coincidence; we find that although these threats were disguised under another topic, in reality, they were directed at the judge and the court that will make a decision regarding Mr. Kocharyan. The essence of the threat was that we will bring the former authorities to court; it is true, the terminology was a bit different, under pressure,” Alumyan stated.
The attorney for Kocharyan expressed the view that those judges who are subjected to governmental pressure are precisely the judges who subsequently become corrupt.
