Messi After His Father's Death: I Don't Know How Much Longer I Will Continue Playing
Lionel Messi, the forward of the Argentine national team and Inter Miami, made an extensive and emotional post on his Instagram account regarding the death of his father. In his heartfelt message, the footballer also hinted at the possibility of ending his career in the near future.
In his post, Messi reflected on the strong bond he had with his father and the difficult days during the last World Cup: “Dad, I still can’t believe you’re gone. You always begged me to play in the last World Cup, and just days before it started, your condition worsened. After each game, I was waiting for your message, and that’s when I realized the situation was really bad. I wanted to win for you, … but my legs no longer obeyed.”
The footballer also shared his doubts about his future and the irreplaceable role his father played in his life: “I don’t know what I will do without you, I don’t know how to continue. I only played football, and now I have quite a few doubts about whether I will keep doing it for a long time. You were by my side from the very beginning, we were so close to the end. Why didn’t you hold on a little longer so we could finish together? You were a father, a friend, and a representative. Rest in peace… I love you, dad.”
It is noteworthy that Jorge Messi passed away at the age of 68 in a clinic in Rosario after a prolonged illness. The funeral took place on August 9, under strict security measures, attended only by family members.
