During a press briefing, MP Ishkhan Sahakyan addressed the economic relations with Azerbaijan and Turkey, stating that these countries cannot become alternative sources for gas, energy resources, or other supplies for Armenia.

“How can one assume that enemy states, which have perpetrated genocide against us twice in our homeland over the past 100 years, that have issues with the Armenian person and Armenian identity, can quickly become friends, renounce their geopolitical plans, and become alternative suppliers?” Sahakyan said.

The MP emphasized that he does not believe in such a change. He is confident that the active supplies from Azerbaijan fit into the narrative of the ruling Civic Contract party’s pre-election campaign. According to him, this is part of a larger scheme to mislead the Armenian society into thinking that enmity is in the past and that it’s time for brotherhood. However, the goal is to isolate Armenia from its main suppliers and then “turn off the tap.”

“Pashinyan’s policy is as follows: to become enemies with friendly countries and attempt to befriend enemy countries; as a result, we will become enemies with our friends, and we won’t be able to befriend our enemies, leading the country towards new adventures,” the opposition MP remarked.
