Armenia is One of the Most Preferred Destinations for Russian Tourists

The Deputy President of the Association of Tourist Agencies of Russia, Aleksan Mkrtchyan, has informed TASS that Armenia continues to be one of the most popular destinations among Russians in 2026.

In the ranking of the most favored countries for Russian tourists in the Near Abroad, the top three include Belarus, Abkhazia, and Armenia.

According to him, during 2026, the most popular countries for Russian tourists are Turkey, Egypt, and China, followed by Thailand and Vietnam.

Official tourism data from Armenia also indicates a high share of Russian tourists in the overall tourism flow. From January to July 2026, around 1,240,307 tourists visited Armenia, of which the largest share, 40%, is from Russia. Georgia follows with 15%, and Iran with 8%.

In July alone, Armenia welcomed 198,709 tourists, whereas in July 2025, this figure was 263,592.

During the first six months of 2026, 416,743 Russians visited Armenia, compared to 338,052 during the same period in 2025.

Thus, the number of Russian tourists increased by 23.3% in the first half of the year, with their share in the total tourist flow to Armenia rising from 37.3% to 40%.
