New armament deployment plans in the Asia-Pacific region pose a threat to Russia. This was stated by Russian President Vladimir Putin during the Pacific Fleet exercises on August 12.

According to Putin, the potential for conflicts in the region is increasing, as is the presence of NATO forces. He stated, “Here, new weapon systems are being deployed and planned for deployment, which create threats for our country as well.”

The Russian President noted that tensions are rising not only in the Asia-Pacific region but also in the adjacent Arctic. Previously, Putin had mentioned that in the current unstable environment, cooperation between Russia and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) is a crucial stabilizing factor in the Asia-Pacific region.
