Regular Elections Appointed in Four Communities: Anti-Corruption Committee to Conduct Ongoing Monitoring
The Anti-Corruption Committee of Armenia informs that, according to the decision No. 364-A of August 3, 2026, by the Governor of Syunik Province, regular elections have been appointed in the communities of Goris and Meghri of the same province. Additionally, based on decisions No. 590-A and 591-A of August 4, 2026, by the Governor of Lori Province, regular elections are set in the communities of Stepanavan and Fiolotov.
According to Article 221 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia, from the date the decision on the appointment of elections enters into force until the summary of election results, any candidate, party (or coalition of parties) member, or authorized person offering or promising any property (or services) gratuitously or on preferential terms to voters personally or on behalf of them (including on behalf of the party or coalition) or conducting pre-election campaigning under the guise of charity will incur criminal liability.
At the same time, the Anti-Corruption Committee warns that it will conduct ongoing monitoring and oversight of the electoral process in full compliance with its powers and tools, in cooperation with partner law enforcement agencies. It urges to refrain from any illegal actions that violate the prohibition on charity, clarifying that any violation of legally established requirements will receive an appropriate and stringent legal response.
