The Armenian Apostolic Church is the State's Largest Partner: Gagik Tsarukyan's Statement
Culture is one of the crucial pillars of our national identity, historical memory, and value system. This was stated by Gagik Tsarukyan, the President of the Prosperous Armenia Party.
“Today, the main provisions of the cultural sector within the framework of the 'Proposal for Armenia' program have been published, aimed at activating cultural life, preserving national heritage, and creating a creative freedom environment. Culture is one of the crucial pillars of our national identity, historical memory, and value system. It is impossible to build a prosperous and developed state without clear policies for preserving, developing culture, and passing it on to future generations.
Below, I have highlighted several main provisions:
- The state should generously finance and provide technical support to the cultural sector, promoting art and individual creativity. However, it should act not as a 'feudal lord' who owns this 'field', nor as a dry regulator but as a caring partner, for whom the outcome (including long-term) is important. The fields of art and creativity should be kept free from both direct encroachments and the dangers of bureaucratization and stagnation.
- To unite the efforts of the best specialists from all sectors, both in Armenia and in the diaspora, regardless of political and personal sympathies. To create an effective, viable system for the preservation of cultural heritage. We are all guardians of our cultural heritage.
- The Armenian Apostolic Holy Church, with all its diaspora structures, experience, and authority, is the state’s largest partner in preserving ancient treasures,” the statement reads.
