Cost of One Inmate's Food is 1113 Drams, Yet Homes Send Food to Prisons: 'Joghovurd'
The newspaper 'Joghovurd' reports that, according to information from the RA State Procurement website, the Correctional Service of the Ministry of Justice of Armenia has signed a contract worth 1 billion 241 million drams with the company 'Arpine Karapetyan.' According to the contract, 'Arpine Karapetyan' is obliged to provide ready-made meal delivery services for inmates and convicts held in nine correctional facilities of the RA Ministry of Justice, including 'Armavir', 'Nubarashen', 'Abovyan', 'Goris', 'Vardashen', 'Yerevan-Center', 'Sevan', 'Artik', and 'Vanadzor'. This service includes a system for the procurement of food products, cooking, and distribution, which encompasses the following functions: the contractor must stock, preserve, and prepare quality meals from the available food products with specialized chefs, and deliver them to all correctional facilities. The RA Ministry of Justice's No. 5 correctional facility may provide free premises where the contractor can organize food preparation services.
