Madat Babayan Sentenced to 19 Years in Baku Court
The authorities of Azerbaijan have sentenced the detained Madat Babayan to 19 years in prison. This has been reported by Azerbaijani media.
It is noted that earlier the court sentenced former presidents of Nagorno-Karabakh, Arkadi Ghukasyan and Bako Sahakyan, to 20 years in prison, while former president Araik Harutyunyan, former National Assembly president Davit Ishkhanyan, former foreign minister Davit Babayan, former commander of the Nagorno-Karabakh Defense Army Levon Mnatsakanyan, and Deputy Davit Manukyan were sentenced to life imprisonment.
The penalty imposed on Arkadi Ghukasyan and Bako Sahakyan, which is 20 years of imprisonment instead of life, has been conditioned by their reaching the age of 65.
