Why Children of Deceased Parents Cannot Access Deposits: Thorosyan Explains
During a discussion on sector reforms with the Minister of Labor and Social Affairs, MP Emma Palyan raised a question regarding deposits, relaying an inquiry from a citizen about why children of deceased parents cannot access the deposits.
In response, the minister indicated that it is currently possible to return the deposits of citizens born before December 31, 1944, and those who deposited funds by June 10, 1993, in accordance with an existing, albeit complex, formula. He emphasized that by law, deposits are not inheritable, and this regulation was established in the past.
Thorosyan acknowledged the citizens' dissatisfaction, stressing that citizens who worked during the Soviet era invested their earnings, but the current regulation remains unchanged.
