Iran on Tensions with the US and Potential War: Advisor
Iran continues to receive proposals from Washington for negotiations. This was stated by Ali Shamkhani, an advisor to Iran's Supreme Leader, in an interview with Al Mayadeen television.
According to him, there is a possibility of avoiding war. “The Islamic Republic is ready to negotiate only with the United States on nuclear issues, as Europe has proven to be an unreliable party in negotiations,” Shamkhani said.
Shamkhani also touched upon the recent meeting between Iranian and US delegations in Istanbul. He noted that “if we fairly sit at the negotiating table and reject illogical and unfounded conditions and instructions, then it is possible to hold direct and indirect meetings with the US.”
He also discussed the fate of Iran's nuclear stockpiles, emphasizing that their status remains uncertain after airstrikes. “The quantity of enriched uranium stockpiles is still unknown, as the stockpiles are in the phase of destruction. Due to high risks, initiatives have not yet been undertaken to extract them. In this regard, discussions are underway with the International Atomic Energy Agency regarding the possibility of accessing the stockpiles and assessing their quantity, under the condition of ensuring safety and preventing any risks,” the diplomat stated.
