Washington Strengthens Air Defense in the Middle East: WSJ
Despite the transfer of a "massive naval fleet" to the Middle East led by the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln, American airstrikes against Iran are currently not seen as inevitable. This was reported by U.S. officials to The Wall Street Journal, emphasizing that Washington is primarily focusing on strengthening defensive capabilities.
According to sources from the newspaper, the United States is deploying additional air defense measures to protect Israel, Arab allies, and American forces in the region in light of potential Iranian retaliation and the risk of a prolonged conflict.
U.S. officials stated that if President Donald Trump were to order an attack at this moment, the U.S. military would technically be capable of conducting limited airstrikes against Iran. However, a broader and more decisive strike, which Trump allegedly asked military officials to prepare to avoid a prolonged war in the region, could provoke a proportional response from Tehran. This scenario is forcing Washington to enhance its air defense systems.
