Head of the Food Safety Inspection Body Presents School Food Oversight Process

During a press conference, a journalist asked Tigran Petrosyan, the head of the Food Safety Inspection Body (FSIB), about the number of inspections conducted in school buffets in 2025, what violations have been registered, and what measures have been taken.

In response, Petrosyan noted that there is a program in place where food is provided through state funding and procurement, and that most schools operate individualized kitchens, as he put it.

When asked whether the inspection body checks the food sold in schools, the FSIB head replied that inspections are indeed carried out, although he could not specify the exact number at this time. According to him, if there have been suspensions and fines, the number of inspections has been substantial.

Petrosyan stated that the food provided through state procurement under the program is almost completely monitored, while inspections of the private sector are conducted in the presence of complaints. He emphasized that currently the inspection body is not legally authorized to enter schools without grounds to inspect the buffets.

At the same time, the FSIB head announced that a project is planned to be completed this year, which will allow inspectors from the rapid response department to carry out inspections by presenting credentials.
