Denmark Strengthens Military Presence in Greenland: Call to Local Residents
Denmark has developed plans to send up to 1,000 troops to Greenland during the current year. Representatives of the Danish armed forces are expected to remain on the island throughout the year, providing a continuous military presence.
According to local TV2, the periodic deployment of naval and air force units to Greenland is also under discussion. These measures are linked to the growing geopolitical activity in the region and are seen in the context of a changing security environment.
Recall that former U.S. President Donald Trump previously expressed interest in Denmark's autonomous territory. According to Bloomberg, Denmark also plans to conduct military exercises in Greenland throughout the year.
It is noted that the Danish side has already sent 58 troops to Greenland, led by the country’s army chief, Peter Boysen. This step is viewed as the first phase of broader military plans.
Additionally, Greenlandic authorities have called on local residents to prepare for potential military conflict.
