Israeli Airplanes Strike Southern Lebanon
Israeli fighter jets have carried out a series of strikes in the southern Lebanese town of Ansar, a Lebanese military source has informed RIA Novosti.
"Israeli fighter planes have launched several strikes on the Barguz valley and the Mays heights in southern Lebanon," said the source.
According to the source, the fighter jets continue to remain in Lebanese airspace, attacking the valley situated between the towns of Jarjou and Luweizi.
Earlier, the Israeli military had announced its intention to strike Hezbollah military infrastructure in southern Lebanon.
Lebanese authorities have repeatedly stated that Israel continues to systematically violate the republic's sovereignty despite the ceasefire agreement. Israeli forces maintain a presence in five strategic locations in southern Lebanon, including in the northern village of Ghajar. Lebanese authorities view this as an ongoing occupation and a violation of United Nations Security Council Resolution 1701.
