State of Emergency Declared in Yemen
The Yemeni authorities have announced a 90-day state of emergency across the country, as reported by Al Arabiya. Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council President Rashad al-Alimi has also declared a 72-hour air, land, and sea blockade at all entry points into Yemen, stating that the emergency measures may be extended.
The government has also demanded the withdrawal of all forces from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) within 24 hours. Al-Alimi stated that the Yemeni leadership will "never waver" in facing terrorist threats and has criticized the Southern Transitional Council (STC), which controls the south, for its reluctance to resolve disputes and make decisions.
Al-Alimi referred to the transfer of arms to the STC from the UAE's Fujairah city as an "escalation step," according to the publication.
